The City Council approved revisions to Municipal Code Chapter 8.68 that require all restaurants and food vendors operating in the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea to utilize compostable or recyclable options for disposable food packaging, and to only provide straws and utensils upon request.
The City’s storm drain system is important infrastructure that prevents flooding when it rains. The system includes:
- gutters and surface drainage on streets,
- storm drain inlets, and
- storm drain pipes and outfalls.
Storm drains flow directly into surface water bodies without any treatment, so it is critical to keep stormwater pollutant free.
