The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea is seeking applications to fill nine (9) upcoming Board and Commission vacancies as follows:
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES COMMISSION: (3 vacancies, 2 expiring terms) 4-year term
- Encourages community engagement through events and programs.
- Applicants should have an interest in the arts and/or parks and recreation.
- City residents or those in the City’s Sphere of Influence may apply.
- Meets second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
FOREST AND BEACH COMMISSION: (1 expiring term) 4-year term
- Advises on the preservation of the urban forest, parks, and beach.
- Applicants must be City residents.
- Interest in parks and open spaces is preferred.
- Meets second Thursday of each month at 2:30 p.m. (Tour of Inspection at 1:30 p.m.)
HISTORIC RESOURCES BOARD: (1 expiring term) 4-year term
- Implements policies on architectural, cultural, and historic preservation.
- Applicants must be City residents with an interest or expertise in historic preservation or architecture.
- Meets third Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
HARRISON MEMORIAL LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES: (2 expiring terms) 3-year term
- Manages library operations and property, and enforces rules, regulations and bylaws of the library. Oversees the budget for library equipment, books, and supplies, and helps with fundraising efforts.
- Open to City residents or those in the City’s Sphere of Influence.
- Applicants must have a Harrison Memorial Library patron card and an interest in library services.
- Meets fourth Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m.

APPOINTMENT PROCESS:
Interviews with the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem will take place in April (date TBD). Appointment recommendations will be made at a Council meeting in May or June.
