The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea is seeking applications for various Boards and Commissions.
FOREST AND BEACH COMMISSION: (2 seats) 4-year term
- Oversees the care and management of the City’s urban forest, parks, and beach areas in compliance with the City’s General Plan
- Applicants must be residents of the City or Sphere of Influence, and have an interest in parks, forestry, or nature conservation.
- Meets on the second Thursday of the month at 2:30 p.m.
HARRISON MEMORIAL LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES: (1 seat) 3-year term
- The Library Board governs and supports the City library by managing its property and collections, setting policies, administering gifts/trusts, reporting annually, and fundraising as needed.
- Applicants must be residents of the City or Sphere of Influence, have a Carmel Library Card, and have an interest or experience in library services
- Meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
HISTORIC RESOURCES BOARD: (2 seats) 4-year term
- Implements policies on architectural, cultural, and historic preservation.
- Applicants must be residents of the City OR Monterey County, with an interest or expertise in historic preservation or architecture.
- Meets on the third Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
PLANNING COMMISSION: (2 seats) 4-year term
BUILDING CODE BOARD OF APPEALS: (2 seats)

APPOINTMENT PROCESS:
Interviews with the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem will take place in May. Appointment recommendations will be made at a Council meeting in June.
