Seniors Helping Seniors

Overview

The Seniors Helping Seniors program was developed and implemented by the Carmel-by-the-Sea Police Department in 1997. The primary purpose of the program is to make daily calls and welfare checks to the many senior citizens in our community who live alone. In addition, this program also provides volunteer opportunities for seniors who enjoy helping other seniors. The program consists of:

  • volunteer senior callers making phone calls to our list of senior recipients,
  • welfare checks; and
  • social events, such as our annual Seniors Christmas Luncheon.

Funding for the Seniors Helping Seniors program comes entirely from donations by businesses and individuals in our community. If you know of someone who would like to be a recipient or a volunteer, or if you would like to help support the program with a donation, please contact our Seniors Helping Seniors coordinator Lisa Panetta.
