State & Federal Taxes Extended until July 15

Due to the current health crisis, the deadlines to FILE and PAY California state and federal taxes have been extended until July 15, 2020.

Do I have to do anything to get this extension?

Nope. The extension is automatic.

What about my tax refund?

Both the state and the IRS are processing refunds. The sooner you file your taxes, the sooner your refund will be processed.

How do I file?

The IRS recommends filing online, but you can mail in paper tax forms, though paper returns may take several weeks longer to process.

Where can I get forms?

Printable forms and instructions for individuals and families, businesses, nonprofits and more are available online. (As of June 30, 2020, the IRS is not mailing out paper forms.)

A limited number of paper forms are also available at the Book Shrine in front of the Harrison Memorial Library, at the corner of Lincoln Street and Ocean Avenue.

How do I file?
