Local History Lecture – Kipp Stewart: A Life in Painting, Design and Architecture

Join the Carmel Public Library Foundation, in collaboration with American Institute of Architects Monterey Bay, in honoring the life and legacy of local and renowned painter and designer Kipp Stewart. As a self-made multi-faceted creative man, Stewart was an award-winning modern art designer, most known for his design of the Ventana Big Sur resort. His passion for environmentally and nature friendly designs are seen in many of his designs elements that continue to be treasured internationally. Presenters include Rob Forbes (founder of Design Within Reach), David Ligare (renowned local designer and painter), and Mary Ann Schicketanz (architect, founder of Studio Schicketanz).
Stewart’s passion, devotion, and creativity established him as a true trailblazer in design on the Monterey Peninsula, nationally, and internationally. His furniture collections, some of which were made for Drexel, Directional and Summit Furniture, continue to bring joy and purpose to many hotels, universities and businesses.
