The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea and the American Institute of Architects, Monterey Bay Chapter invite you to participate in the 62nd Annual Great Sandcastle Contest on Sunday, September 14, 2025. 

Things to know :) 

• This year’s theme is ”Carmel’s Nature”. 
• Building can begin as early as 7:00 am with judging commencing at 11:00 am and awards presented close to noon. 
• Building boundaries are on the beach at Scenic between 10th & 12th.
• You can use shovels, rakes, and buckets to assist in your building, but only items found on the beach can be incorporated into your final sandcastle.

Registration (Free!)

• No pre-registration is required! 
• This event is free and open to the public (all sandcastle-building skill levels can participate). 

On the day of the event look for the tent on the beach at 11th to register and pick up your entry number.
