The Community Services Director plans, organizes, administers, and directs the operation and activities, as well as overseeing, managing and regulating all Special Events, for the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

If you are interested in sponsoring an event in Carmel-by-the-Sea please read the Special Event Guidelines and contact our office to discuss your plans and determine if you require a permit. When planning a Special Event please allow ample time for the appropriate approvals, timing can range from 3-6 months, depending on your request, the more complex the more time.
If you are interested in filming a Commercial Shoot in Carmel-by-the-Sea please read the Film Info Guidelines and contact our office to discuss your plans. Depending on your request the timing can range anywhere from a week to a month or more (especially if street closures are required). For a basic film shoot we can usually process your request in a few days, as with any request, the more complex the more time it will take to process your Film Permit.
